This ACLS Certification course reflects the 2010 American Heart Association (AHA) Guidelines for CPR and ECC and ILCOR International Consensus on CPR and ECC Science with Treatment Recommendations.
Common ACLS certification students: Health care professionals, family physicians, physician assistants, intensive care personnel, critical care personnel, EMS Professionals
Overview: In this course, using a combination of online study, quizzes, tests and in-person testing, medical professionals and other first responders will learn how to recognize when an adult is experiencing a life-threatening cardiac event. They also will learn how to provide interventions for advanced cardiac life support as defined currently by the American Heart Association. Continuing education credits are available from CECBEMS, AAFP and AAPA, as well as the Florida Department of Health Bureau of Emergency Medical Services.
Course details: Because cardiac emergencies are initially basic life support events, the course begins with the teaching of CPR techniques. Other initial care skills are taught, not only for cardiac conditions, but for other emergency cardiopulmonary conditions. Students will be able to recognize and treat other potentially fatal conditions, such as stroke. The course also teaches ACLS algorithms. Finally, students of this class learn how to facilitate the communication, skills and cooperation of all members of an emergency resuscitation team. When the class is completed, students will have gained the knowledge and skills they need to manage cardiac-related emergency situations and do what is possible in an emergency situation to save a person's life.
To complete certification, students will be required to demonstrate their skills with an in-person skills test.
